Agriculture

In Nigeria, agriculture is a major contributor to climate change. The wrong use and application of agricultural chemicals such as pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers hurt the ecosystem. Other practices such as tree felling, and soil tillage also distort the ecosystem with implications for the environment. EPCS promotes a shift to conservation agriculture to foster a sustainable environment.

Climate change

The effect of climate change is very visible today globally. This is due to harmful development practices such as use of agricultural chemicals, deforestation, gas flaring etc., which generate greehouse gases and depletion of the ozone layer. EPC support activities that promote sustainable environment to reverse the harmful effect of climate change

Water. Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)

WASH contributes immensely to environmental health. Water is critical to environmental health. Poor sanitation and hygiene practices lead to high disease burden. In addition to disease, indiscriminate waste disposal causes harmful effects such as flooding. At EPCS, we provide basic infrastructure, training and capacity building support to help improve water management, as well as sanitation and hygiene behaviors.

Natural Resources

Extraction of mineral resources is critical to human development. The benefit of mineral extraction should be seen by communities and governments through community development, job creation and revenue generation.

Water is a very critical resource which is under the growing impact of climate change and is causing human migration, poverty and conflict.

Forests are depleting due to climate change effects and deforestation from logging and fires. This is causing loss of livelihoods for forest communities.
with attendant socioeconomic consequences.

EPCS promotes sustainable management of natural resources.

Together, we can build a sustainable environment
